GLENVILLE, W. Va. (Nov. 10, 2012) – Glenville State used a ferocious first half to take control and never look back as the host Pioneers upset No. 6 Edinboro on Saturday evening, 101-82, in front of 1,043 spectators at the Glenville State Classic.
Samantha Blazetic put in a strong performance for the Fighting Scots by posting a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Kiara Brown and
Bobbi Baker all registered 11 points apiece while
Morgyn Patterson added 10 points off the bench.
Glenville State (2-0) started ice cold from the floor, missing its first 14 field goal attempts before LaToya Hambrick ended the futility with a layup 4:54 into the game. Edinboro (1-1) failed to take advantage of the opportunity, however, mustering just a 6-4 lead during the span.
The Pioneers made up quickly for lost time, turning the tables following the slow start. Glenville went on a 16-3 tear to take a 20-9 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half. The Fighting Scots chipped away, cutting the deficit to seven following a jumper from
Morgyn Patterson to make the score 20-13 halfway through the first period. The two teams traded scores but remained fairly even for the next two minutes before Glenville embarked on a game-changing run.
Ahead 24-15, the Pioneers exploded for a 20-4 blitz over the next 4:07 to take a 44-19 stranglehold and never relinquish their handle on the contest. Glenville stretched its lead as much as 28 points during the first half, taking a 56-31 lead into intermission. The Pioneers shot just 37 percent in the opening half (17-of-46), but connected at a 53 percent clip (17-32) after their dreadful start. Ten 3's from the Pioneers stifled Edinboro's efforts to whittle away at the deficit before half time.
Edinboro came out strong following the break, cutting their deficit to 11 (75-64) by outscoring Glenville 33-19 over the first 11 minutes of the second half. The Pioneers scored the next six points, though, to stretch the lead back to 17 and effectively put the game on ice.
Ginny Mills and Kenyona Simmons each scored a game-high 24 points as the Pioneers had four players in double figures.
Aignee Freeland brought down 10 rebounds in her second collegiate game.
The Fighting Scots are off until their home debut on Nov. 24 vs. Wayne State.
GAME NOTES: Kiara Brown surpassed 1,000 points for her college career as she now stands with with 1,010 points. Brown scored 211 points in one season at California (Pa.) and has a total of 799 points for the Fighting Scots after transferring ... Edinboro shot 35 percent from the field after connecting on 36 of 103 attempts … Glenville State finished by shooting at a 37 percent clip (30-81), but 43 percent from the perimeter (15-35) while Edinboro struggled to an 18 percent (4-22) clip from beyond the arc … the Scots outscored Glenville, 51-45, during the second half … Saturday was the first time an opponent scored 100 or more points against Edinboro since West Liberty did so on Nov. 27, 2007 … Edinboro forced 27 Glenville turnovers, but a key to the game was the Pioneers' edge on the glass, out-rebounding the Scots by a 71-57 margin.
