Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2012) – The Fighting Scots volleyball squad battled PSAC West-leading Gannon on Saturday afternoon, but could not pull the upset as they lost 3-1 in McComb Fieldhouse.
The first set was back-and-forth throughout, but Gannon eventually took the win 25-21. Set two was much of the same, with similar results for Gannon as they took the set 25-20. The third set packed a lot of excitement as the two teams shared the lead numerous times and play even extended into overtime. Eventually, Edinboro came out with a 28-26 victory. Gannon went back to work in set four, finishing the match with a 25-16 victory.
Edinboro (8-22, 5-12 PSAC) had a trio of performers record double-digit kills during the match.
Tabitha Meeks and
Megan Branchick each finished with 12 apiece and
Marah Maycock was right behind them with 11.
Katie Felix added 29 assists with
Erin Schatzle tossing in 13 assists of her own. Libero
Haley Marett led the defense with 17 digs. Meeks added 14 digs and Maycock added 12.
Gannon (23-4, 15-2 PSAC) was led by Lauren Sazama, who tallied 19 kills. Assisting her on those kills was setter Megan Wendel, who finished with 45 assists. Defensively, Gannon had several players contribute. Sarah Glancy finished with seven blocks while Taryn Graham led the defense with 15 digs. Sazama and Morgan Walters each finished with 13 digs for the Golden Knights.
Edinboro will travel to Ursuline on Tuesday, November 9 before returning home for its final two matches of the season against Clarion and Slippery Rock which are scheduled for Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10 respectively.
