STORYLINE
No. 12 Edinboro (5-2, 3-2 PSAC) seeks to rebound following a pair of tough conference losses in its last two times out. The Fighting Scots were 5-0 when a goal in the 85th minute at then-No. 12 West Chester led to a 1-0 loss. Wednesday, a first half offensive flurry from Gannon led to a 4-0 setback. Mercyhurst (4-3, 1-3) seeks to make it two wins in a row after dropping Mansfield, 5-2, at home on Wednesday – the Lakers' greatest offensive output of the season. Edinboro has owned the local rivalry as of late, winning the last three meetings between the two schools. Mercyhurst, however, dominated the first decade of the series as the Lakers did not drop a match between the two teams for the first 10 years of the series.

SCOTS TAKE HIGHEST-EVER NATIONAL RANK
When this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25 came out on Tuesday, Edinboro sat at No. 12 - the highest national ranking in school history. The Scots jumped eight spots from No. 20 in the previous poll. Edinboro, which started out a school-best 5-0-0, had never previously been ranked higher than 14th.

BORO SEEKS TO ADD TO STREAK AGAINST 'HURST
Edinboro has dominated the local rivalry against Mercyhurst in recent years, winning the last three matches including a 4-0 win a year ago. The last win for the Lakers in the series came in a 3-1 result on Sept. 9, 2008 at Edinboro. Edinboro's three-match winning streak marks a turn in the tide of the series as the Lakers own a 9-3-1 edge all-time. Prior to 2009, Edinboro had not defeated Mercyhurst.

SEARCHING FOR OFFENSE
Boro looks to find its offense against Mercyhurst after being shutout in consecutive matches at then-No. 12 West Chester last Saturday, 1-0, and then a 4-0 loss at Gannon on Wednesday. Edinboro had opportunities against Gannon, firing 10 shots on goal, but Golden Knights goalkeeper Sarah Geffel turned every shot away.

ABOUT MERCYHURST
Mercyhurst (4-3, 1-3) was picked to finish 11th in the PSAC preseason coaches' poll in August following a 7-10-1 season a year ago. The Lakers boast a young team as just two seniors are on the current roster. Averaging 1.14 goals per game during the season thus far, the Lakers rank 11th in the PSAC in scoring. Mercyhurst has played extremely well at home going 3-0, but has struggled on the road - the Lakers are still seeking their first win away from home as they are 0-3 when traveling.

LAST YEAR'S MATCH
Edinboro won at Mercyhurst, 4-0, on Sept. 17, 2011. Jenna Madison led the way for the Fighting Scots as she scored a pair of goals. The teams played to a first half draw before Edinboro exploded offensively in the second half. Madison netted the first goal in the 49th minute and Becca Costello added another score six minutes later. Madison scored again at 60:51 and Karisa Fernandez closed the scoring with the fourth goal of the half for Edinboro.
