SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 11, 2013) –
Tony Romanini set a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke to pace an Edinboro men's swimming victory over PSAC foe Shippensburg, 110-95, on Friday evening.
Romanini's time of 51.17 was enough to easily take victory in 100 back, setting a Shippensburg pool record in the process. Romanini also set the time to beat in the 200-yard free with a winning time of 1:46.62.
Freshman Joshua Beabout also had a standout night for the Fighting Scots, taking victories in the 500-yard free (4:53.60) and 1000-yard free (10:09.45).
Darren Suroviec touched first in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 52.99 while
Ryan Sestak paced the 100-yard free at 49.17.
In team competition, Edinboro captured victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.81 behind the efforts of Romanini, Suroviec,
Jared Malecki and
Seth Dippold. The Scots 200-yard free relay team of Dippold, Suroviec, Sestak and
Frank Thatcher were also victorious with a time of 1:28.49.
Edinboro improves to 2-4 on the season while Shippensburg falls to 3-3. The Scots hit the pool again for their final home meet of the season against Clarion on Jan. 26.
