Looking to continue their winning streak, the Edinboro women's soccer team will face Seton Hill on Wednesday, October 02 at 4 p.m. in Greensburg, Pa., home of the Griffins. These two teams come into the match trending in opposite directions, as the Fighting Scots are on a two-game winning streak and stand 5-3-0 overall, 3-3-0 in the PSAC. The Griffins are on a four-game losing streak and sit at 2-6-0 overall and in the PSAC.
Edinboro's most recent victory come this past Saturday, September 28 when they shutout Lock Haven on the road, 2-0.
Jansen Hartmann and
Liz Debo each scored in the match, Hartmann's first of the season and Debo's fifth. Debo scored three goals in two games last week which earned her PSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
The Fighting Scots go into today's game with the second most goals scored this season in the PSAC and the fourth highest scoring margin. Debo is not only the team-leader in goals, but is also second in the conference in goals per game. Goalkeeper
Meghan Kelly now has four shutouts this year and is credited with all five victories. She is currently tied for second all-time with 24 career victories, and is only one behind Kate Stukbauer for first place.
Seton Hill has struggled as of late. After starting the season 2-2-0, they have fallen into a four-game losing streak where they have been outscored 10-1. While they are 0-3-0 on the road this year, the Griffins two victories have each come at home. They are led by senior forward Jessica Adams, who has scored her team-leading two goals over the course of her last four games played (missed the Slippery Rock game). The only player for the Griffins to start every game this year and register a point is defender Erika Wisniewski. The junior scored against Lock Haven in a 2-0 victory. In net is Bethany Winter. The senior goalie has played nearly every minute this season, only sitting for the final 38 minutes against California (Pa) in their last game. She comes in with a 2-6-0 record and a 1.72 goals against average.
These two teams have posted identical records against common opponents this year, each losing to California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock while beating Lock Haven and Bloomsburg. Edinboro and Seton Hill haven't met in over five years, but the Fighting Scots did win the only two previous matches. This is Seton Hill's first season in the PSAC.
