Fighting Scots Fall at Clarion, 3-0

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) CLARION, Pa. (October 26, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team dropped a PSAC road match at Clarion in straight-set fashion, 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 16-25) on Saturday night at Clarion. The Fighting Scots moved to 15-14 on the year with the loss, including a 6-9 mark in PSAC play. The Golden Eagles improved to 24-2 on the season and 13-1 in conference action. Clarion sits in second place in the PSAC West division, trailing 15-0 front-runner California (Pa.). 

After the Golden Eagles came out victorious in the first set by a score of 25-19, Edinboro held an 18-14 advantage in the second set. The Clarion attack proved to be too much for the Scots, as the Eagles scored 11 of the final 13 points in the set to earn a 25-20 triumph. Clarion did not let up with a 25-16 win in the third set to capture its 13th PSAC victory on the season.  

Haley Marett paced Edinboro with 18 digs on the night, followed by Maycock with 10. Katie Felix dished out 15 assists for the Scots, while Megan Branchick fronted the Boro attack with seven kills.

Hannah Heeter posted a game-high 11 kills for Clarion. Laura Subject recorded 33 assists and Morgan Seybold had 25 digs for the Golden Eagles.

The Fighting Scots have five days off before travelling to Mercyhurst on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 7 p.m. Edinboro will look to avenge a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Lakers earlier this season.
