EDINBORO, Pa. (October 31, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team returns to action this Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 for PSAC matches against local foes Mercyhurst and Gannon. The Fighting Scots face Mercyhurst on Friday, before taking on Gannon on Saturday afternoon.
Edinboro enters the weekend with a 15-14 overall record and a 6-9 mark in PSAC play. Mercyhurst comes into Friday's match at 14-11 and 8-7 in the conference, while Gannon holds a 14-10 record and a 9-6 ledger in the PSAC. Gannon sits at fourth place in the PSAC West standings followed by Mercyhurst at fifth.
The Fighting Scots defeated Gannon earlier this season in a thrilling five-set match on October 4.
Megan Branchick recorded a game-high 20 kills in the win over the Golden Knights, while
Katie Felix dished out 43 assists. Mercyhurst topped Edinboro by a score of 3-1 the very next day. The Fighting Scots are coming off a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Clarion last Saturday, October 26.
Haley Marett paces all PSAC players with 613 digs on the season, while
Katie Felix ranks fourth in the conference with 889 assists on the year. Felix also leads the Fighting Scots with 38 service aces.
Marah Maycock and
Megan Branchick front the Boro attack with 280 kills apiece.
Friday's match at Mercyhurst gets underway at 7 p.m. The Fighting Scots then travel to Gannon on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. start.
