Boro Looks to Extend Four-Game Winning Streak on Tuesday versus Clarion

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team will look to extend its four-match winning streak on Tuesday, October 7, hosting Clarion in a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest.  The action gets underway at 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.

After a somewhat slow start to the season, splitting their first three contests, the Fighting Scots have run off four straight wins to improve to 7-3-0 overall and 5-3-0 in the PSAC. During that stretch Edinboro has outscored the opposition 13-5.  The Fighting Scots have climbed into a tie for seventh place in the PSAC with 15 points.   Clarion comes in with 3-4-3 overall record and is also 3-4-3 in the PSAC for 12 points.

Edinboro posted a 4-2 win over winless Pitt-Johnstown on Friday, as head coach Gary Kagiavas substituted liberally.  Meghan Kelly picked up the win in goal, her 26th career victory.  That broke the career record for wins previously held by Kate Stukbauer.  Kelly has a 7-3-0 record and a 1.15 goals against average.

Junior Liz Debo and freshman Alex Brown lead the Fighting Scots in scoring with six goals for 12 points.  Becca Costello has three goals and two assists for eight points, while Lauralee Clements adds two goals and three assists for seven points.

After a fast start in which they were 3-1-2, the Golden Eagles are 0-3-1 in their last four matches, managing a 1-1 tie with East Stroudsburg.  Clarion has struggled to score, with a goal or less in each of its last eight contests.  The Golden Eagles have relied on a strong defense which has recorded three shutouts and limited four other opponents to just one goal.  That includes a 1-0 loss to West Chester, one of the

Three players -- Casey Harsch, Alyssa Liebdzinski, and Mackenzie Stover –lead Clarion with two goals and an assist apiece.  Overall, Clarion has allowed just 12 goals, but only scored 10. Junior Laura Soessel has been in goal every minute and has a 1.13 goals against average.
