(November 1, 2013) – After dropping both matches last weekend, the Edinboro volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 28-26) to Mercyhurst on Friday night, dropping their record to 15-15 overall and 6-10 in the PSAC. The Lakers improved to 15-11 overall and 9-7 in the PSAC.
The Fighting Scots were able to lose closely in each of the three sets. In the first and third sets, Edinboro had as many errors as they did kills and had a .000 attack percentage in those sets. The Lakers committed a plethora of service errors with 11 in the three sets that helped the Scots stay close. Edinboro had to overcome a 20-13 deficit in the third set but ultimately could not extend the match, as Mercyhurst scored the final two points, the final coming on an attack error by the Scots.
Haley Marett posted a 25 digs in the match which was tied for the third most that she has posted in a three-set match this season.
Katie Felix led the team in assists, totaling the second most she has had in a three-set match with 27. The Lakers saw Kelly Vitt and Tai Lattimore each total double-digit assists, finishing with 20 and 16 respectively.
The Fighting Scots return to action tomorrow, Saturday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. when they stay in Erie, Pa. to face Gannon. Edinboro defeated the Golden Knights 3-2 earlier this season and will look to end their current three-game losing streak.
