Scots Volleyball Team Falls to Gannon, 3-0

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) ERIE, Pa. (November 2, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 10-25) match at the hands of PSAC-rival Gannon on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots moved to 15-16 on the season with the loss, including a 6-11 mark in PSAC play. The Golden Knights improved to 16-10 on the year and 11-6 in conference action.

After topping Edinboro by a 25-17 margin in the first set, Gannon built a 16-9 advantage to start the second set. The Scots fought back, cutting the Golden Knight lead to two, 21-19, on a block assist by Latoya Hutchinson and Tabitha Meeks. Edinboro could not reach any closer, as Gannon pulled away for the 25-21 victory.

The Golden Knights used a .370 hitting percentage in the third and final set to claim a 25-10 triumph and the 3-0 PSAC win.

Marah Maycock and  Meeks posted 12 digs apiece to lead the Fighting Scots. Nicole Brunot recorded 14 assists, while Meeks paced the Edinboro attack with seven kills.

Maggie Desrosiers fronted the Gannon attack with 12 kills, followed by Kayla Knickerbocker with 10. Megan Wandel had a game-high 31 assists for the Golden Knights, and Hannah Kren tabbed 13 digs.

The Fighting Scots return home on Tuesday night to host Slippery Rock. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse against the Rock.
