EDINBORO, Pa. – All 13 players scored on Monday night as Edinboro opened its second season under head coach
Pat Cleary with a 102-62 win over visiting Penn State Greater Allegheny. The Lions dropped to 3-3 on the season while losing for the 11
th straight time in the series against Edinboro.
Henri Wade-Chatman led all scorers with 20 points while playing just 21 minutes. The junior guard made 8 of 11 field goals, including 4 of 6 3-pointers.
Sheldon Brogdon came off the bench to add 17 points on the strength of 5-for-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. Brogdon was playing in his first game as a Fighting Scot after previously playing at Youngstown State.
Nate Stepney scored 13 points
off the bench.Nate Stepney was a third Fighting Scot in double figures as the freshman forward scored 13 points and had five rebounds in 11 minutes.
Several other newcomers made their presence felt.
Casey Baker, a senior forward who played three seasons at Urbana, pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Tommy Scales, a transfer from Fairmont State, added 10 rebounds along with eight points. Freshman forward
Quinn Lee Yaw had nine points and eight rebounds.
Edinboro shot 47.4 percent from the floor, making 18 of 38 shots each half. That figure was aided by seven crowd-pleasing dunks. The Fighting Scots were 14-for-35 on 3-pointers and 16 of 22 at the line. PSU Greater Allegheny was held to 22.9 percent on 16 of 70 from the floor. The Lions were 7 of 31 on 3-pointers and made 23 of 38 free throws as Edinboro committed 28 fouls. Edinboro ruled the glass 60-45. The Scots committed 14 turnovers and PSU Greater Allegheny 13.
Quinn Lee Yaw neared a
double-double with nine points and
eight rebounds. Denzel Boyer-London led the Lions with 17 points, while Petrie Addison had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Khari Hicks was also in double figures with 12 points.
Edinboro opened the game on a 12-0 run and held a 24-6 lead as Wade-Chapman scored 15 points. The lead grew to as much as 27 points in the first half at 50-23 with just over two minutes to play before settling for a 54-29 lead at the half.
The second half advantage was as much as 42 points at 92-50 with 3:45 to play. Edinboro would reach 100 points on a dunk by
Quinn Lee Yaw.
The Fighting Scots have little time to celebrate as they open up PSAC West action on Wednesday, November 19 at Seton Hill.
