Edinboro Snaps Two-Game Skid with 3-0 Sweep of IUP

INDIANA, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team halted a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 (25-15, 28-26, 25-22) sweep of host Indiana (Pa.) on Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex in Indiana, Pa. The Fighting Scots boosted their record to 21-11 overall and 12-9 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play. The Crimson Hawks fell to 9-19 and 5-16, respectively with the loss.
 
After posting a convincing 25-15 win in the first game, Edinboro found itself facing set point at 24-23 in the second game. A Challen Litwiler kill and IUP hitting error gave the Fighting Scots a 25-24 advantage, before the Crimson Hawks regained the lead at 26-25 with two straight points. However, Edinboro rallied for three consecutive points on a pair of kills from Litwiler along with a kill by Katie Felix to seal the 28-26 game two victory for the Fighting Scots.
 
With the score knotted at 22 in the third set, Edinboro scored the final three points once again on an IUP hitting error and two service aces by Eiley Durham to earn the 25-22 set triumph and 3-0 PSAC match victory.
 
Tabitha Meeks paced Edinboro with nine kills to go along with 10 digs and a .381 hitting percentage.
 
Haley Marett tallied a game-high 20 digs for the Fighting Scots. Jen Gruber and Litwiler each added eight kills, and posted .389 and .381 hitting percentages, respectively. Sydney Trathen dished out a team-high 18 assists followed by Felix with 17 assists.
 
Lauren Hester led all players with 12 kills and Lindsay Moeller recorded a game-high 30 assists for IUP.
 
Although the Fighting Scots are eliminated from PSAC Championship contention, Edinboro is still alive for an NCAA Atlantic Regional bid. The Fighting Scots sit seventh in the latest NCAA Atlantic Regional Rankings.
 
Edinboro closes the regular season tomorrow travelling to Clarion for a PSAC Western Division matchup. The contest against the first-place Golden Eagles is slated to begin at 1 p.m. from Tippin Gymnasium in Clarion, Pa.
