Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (September 10, 2014) - The Edinboro women's soccer lost to East Stroudsburg 2-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors scored both goals in the first half as they improved to 1-1-0 in conference play and overall this season. The Fighting Scots fall to 0-2-1 overall and in the PSAC.
East Stroudsburg had an opportunity early when Hannah Gombos had a breakaway in the third minute. Edinboro goalkeeper
Meghan Kelly charged the oncoming Gombos and deflected the ball just enough so that the shot went wide.
Ashley DeVito nearly scored
her second goal of the season.Gombos would find the back of the net shortly after. In the 11
th minute Gombos put a strong shot off the right post that rebounded directly back to her. With Kelly out of position after trying to save the previous Gombos shot, the Warriors forward found the back of the net to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. It was Gombos' and East Stroudsburg's first goal of the season.
East Stroudsburg would add its second goal in the 32
nd minute. Courtney Keller chipped the ball over the Scots defense and Sarah Scheidell struck the ball from just inside the box into the side of the net. It was Scheidell's first goal of the year.
The second half featured mainly opportunities for Edinboro. The Fighting Scots outshot East Stroudsburg 9-1 in the final frame. The Scots ended up outshooting the Warriors 13-12.
Ashley DeVito had a chance early in the second half when her free kick from 25 yards out sailed just over the post in the 50
th minute.
Katie O'Donnell had an opportunity in the 67
th minute when she drove in the box from the left side and tried to connect with the opposite corner but the shot went high.
Liz Debo's header in the 68
th minute near the goal box went over the crossbar, as well.
Meghan Kelly started in goal for the Fighting Scots and made four saves. The senior played the first 82 minutes and five seconds before giving way to freshman
Sarah Baskey, who made her first career appearance.

kick.Jules Harris recorded her first career win in net for East Stroudsburg. The freshman goalkeeper made four saves in the shutout.
The winless start through the first three games for Edinboro is its first such start since the inaugural 1996 season. This is also the first time the Fighting Scots dropped each of their first two home games since 2008.
Edinboro will now hit the road for a Saturday, September 13
th match at West Chester beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Fighting Scots will remain on the road and play at Millersville on Monday, September 15
th for a 3:00 p.m. start.
