EDINBORO, Pa. (September 25, 2014) - The Edinboro women's soccer team heads to Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, September 27 for a 1:00 p.m. PSAC match. The Fighting Scots have a two-game winning streak and are 2-4-1 overall and in the PSAC while the Lady Cats are 0-7-0 overall and 0-6-0 in conference.
Edinboro started its current winning streak with a 1-0 victory over Shippensburg last Saturday and then followed it with a 2-1 win against Seton Hill on Wednesday night.
Liz Debo scored a goal in each contest. The senior forward now has 34 career goals which are tied for third all-time. Debo is three goals away from tying assistant coach
Jamie Sallie (formerly Jamie Tekotte) for most goals in school history. The North Huntingdon, Pa. native is also sixth all-time with 74 career points. Debo trails Nicole Vlahovic by 16 points for the school record.
Jansen Hartmann earned her first point of the season with an assist on Debo's goal against the Griffins. The junior midfielder/forward now has 10 career assists and is tied for 16
th all-time in school history.
Meghan Kelly continues to add to her storied career in net for the Scots. Her two saves on Wednesday pushed her to 258 career saves, second most all-time. She also holds the records for career wins (33), minutes (5376), and shutouts (18).
Pitt-Johnstown has been outscored 18-2 this season with both goals coming from Maura Koshute. The junior forward scored in the Lady Cats most recent contest against Mansfield on Wednesday, a 3-1 loss.
Karley Staffen and Savanna Wingard each have an assist this season. Staffen was third on the team last season with three points.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams as Edinboro won last season 4-2 at Sox Harrison Stadium. The Fighting Scots got off to a 3-0 lead with goals from
Becca Costello,
Alex Brown, and Debo before the Lady Cats scored in the final seconds of the first half.
Lauralee Clements scored on a free kick from 30 yards out to push the score to 4-1 in the 64
th minute to put the game out of reach.
Pitt-Johnstown is celebrating its homecoming this weekend. This is the first of Edinboro's four-game road trip with its next game will next Friday, October 3 at Clarion.
