Head coach Missy Soboleski earned her 350th career victory
with the winEDINBORO, Pa. – Buoyed by freshmen Sydney Thrathen and
Challen Litwiler the Edinboro volleyball team rallied to defeat visiting Slippery Rock 3-1 in a PSAC West match on Tuesday evening. Slippery Rock won the first game 25-21, but Edinboro came back to capture the next three by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-21. The victory boosts Edinboro to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC West, while The Rock is now 11-4 and 5-2, respectively.

Missy Soboleski's career, including stints at Gannon and Mercyhurst. She now has a 350-302 overall mark and is 217-124 at Edinboro.
Tied at one game apiece, Edinboro took game three after building a 17-8 lead. SRU would cut the gap to 20-17 before Edinboro ran off the next four points, with a pair of kills from
Latoya Hutchinson, a Litwiler service ace, and a block by Hutchinson and Trathen.
The Fighting Scots grabbed their biggest lead in the fourth game at 18-13, but Slippery Rock would cut the margin to one point on three occasions, the last at 22-21. Litwiler and Trathen would collect the final two kills to close out the match.
Freshman setter Trathen finished the night with 39 assists, 18 digs and 4 block assists. Litwiler, an outside hitter, had 7 kills and added 4 service aces.
Sydney Trathen posted 39 assists, 18 digs
and 4 block assists. Jen Gruber led Edinboro with 13 kills and a .250 hitting percentage, adding 3 block assists. Hutchinson contributed 11 kills with a .350 hitting percentage, and led the Scots with 6 block assists.
Maria Concheck had 9 kills and a .467 hitting percentage, while
Tabitha Meeks also had 9 kills.
Haley Marett totaled 21 digs.
Winners of 11 of their last 12 matches, the Fighting Scots are back in action on Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4, playing at Seton Hill and California(Pa.), respectively.
