BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2015) – Bloomsburg's Rachel Yenney scored with just over ten minutes to play to hand the 25th-ranked Edinboro women's soccer team a 2-1 defeat in a PSAC match on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped the Fighting Scots to 8-4-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg improved to 7-4-1 and 6-4-1, respectively.
The game had all the makings of a trap game for the Fighting Scots, who played local rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday and has an upcoming game against another local rival in top-ranked Gannon on Tuesday, October 13.
Bloomsburg scored just before the end of the first half as Allie Camp scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Allie Barber at the 41:45 mark. Barber crossed the ball to Camp, who bounced it off the past goalkeeper
Sarah Baskey.
Edinboro would knot the score at 1-1 at 74:31, with
Grace Kereky scoring her first goal of the season and second career goal. The junior headed the ball into the knot off a pass across the cage from
Jansen Hartmann.
The tie lasted for less than five minutes, as Yenney's second goal of the season, again assisted by Barber, accounted for the game-winner. Yenney fired in a rebound off the post.
Bloomsburg held a slight advantage in shots, 11-10. Baskey fell to 6-2-0 in the net while recording 6 saves. Bloomsburg's Devon Haviland came up with 7 saves.
