EDINBORO, Pa. (October 10, 2015) – The Edinboro University volleyball team celebrated homecoming weekend by prevailing in 4 sets, by scores of 25-22, 25-22, 14-25 and 25-23, to win its 20
th match of the season and improve to 19-2 overall and 8-1 in the PSAC West. The 19-2 start is the best since the 1994 squad started 20-2. The win pushes the Fighting Scots win streak to 6, while The loss drops Mercyhurst to 10-10 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC West.

Challen Litwilerhe Fighting Scots took the first two sets, which were both hotly contested 25-22 scores, but were outmatched in the third by the Lakers to force a fourth set. The Fighting Scots and Lakers battled back-and-forth in the final set before the Fighting Scots sealed the victory on a kill by Freshman
Jacqui Mullins.
Junior
Victoria Severo led the Fighting Scots attack with 14 kills, while sophomore
Challen Litwiler and senior
Latoya Hutchinson totaled 13 and 12, respectively. Sophomore
Sydney Trathen paced the Edinboro offense with 42 total assists, while also contributing five kills of her own.
Defensively, senior
Marah Maycock led the squad with a team-high 14 digs. Hutchinson totaled a team-high two blocks in the contest.
The Fighting Scots get a well-deserved break before returning to action. Edinboro travels to Kutztown for a PSAC Crossover on Friday, October 16 for matches against Cheyney at 2 p.m. and Kutztown at 7:30. On Saturday, October 17 the Fighting Scots travel to East Stroudsburg for a PSAC Crossover and on West Chester 12:30 p.m. and East Stroudsburg at 6 p.m.
