Fighting Scots Stay Undefeated at Home, Improve to 24-2

EDINBORO, Pa. (October 23, 2015) – The Edinboro University volleyball team entered tonight's contest with California(Pa.) on a ten-game winning streak and by night's end they had increased it to 11 games. The Fighting Scots beat the Vulcans in four sets to improve to 24-2 overall and 12-1 in the PSAC West. The 24 wins is the most in a season since the 2010 squad won 30 games. The loss drops the Vulcans to 8-16 on the season and 6-8 in the PSAC West.
 
After dropping the first set to Cal, 25-20, the Fighting Scots rattled off three straight wins by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-22, to seal the victory. Senior Marah Maycock played in her 467th game as a Fighting Scot, the fourth most all-time in school history. Maycock earned two service aces in the match to give her a career total of 140, good for eighth all-time. Sophomore Challen Litwiler led the Edinboro offense with 19 kills. Juniors Latoya Hutchinson and Victoria Severo totaled 15 and 11, respectively. Sophomore Sydney Trathen paced the Fighting Scots attack with 51 assists, the second-highest total in her career. (56 v. Shippensburg 10/10/14) Trathen also contributed nine kills and posted a team-high .750 hitting percentage.
 
Maycock led the Scots defensively with a career-high 26 digs in the match. With the output, she moves into sixth all-time in school history. Litwiler added 16 digs of her own, while freshman Megan Screptock contributed 9. Trathen and Taylor Palowski totaled seven digs a piece. Severo led the way with three block assists, while Hutchinson picked up her 45th total block of the season.
 
The Fighting Scots are right back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 24 hosting Seton Hill at 4 p.m. in their annual "Dig for a Cure" game. Pre-game auctions will be taking place with the winners announced during the match. Proceeds and donations collected during the day will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
