EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 9, 2015) – The Edinboro volleyball team made a Homecoming statement on Friday night, posting a 3-0 win over Gannon in an early-season showdown for first place in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots prevailed by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-23 to improve to 18-2 overall and 7-1 in the PSAC West. That marks the best start since the 1994 team opened at 20-2. The loss dropped the Lady Knights to 13-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

had strong nights against Gannon. Edinboro led for virtually the entire time in the first two games, but had to rally in the third game. An Edinboro hitting error gave the Lady Knights a 22-21 lead, but the Fighting Scots would score four of the final five points, with the match ending on a
Victoria Severo kill.
Severo would lead the Fighting Scots with 13 kills.
Challen Litwiler and
Latoya Hutchinson had 11 kills, with Litwiler adding 9 digs.
Marah Maycock played a strong game defensively with 22 digs and also contributed 4 service aces.
Sydney Trathen contributed 37 assists and 8 digs. The sophomore setter moved into ninth place in career assists with 1,575.
Edinboro will face its other local rival in another PSAC West contest on Saturday night, looking to conclude Homecoming weekend with a win over Mercyhurst. That match will get underway at 7 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse.
