Fighting Scots Clinch Top-Seed in PSAC West with 3-1 Win over Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. (November 13, 2015) – The Edinboro University volleyball team defeated Seton Hill 3-1 on Friday night to clinch the top-seed in the PSAC Western Division. This marks the first time the Fighting Scots have been the top-seed since the 1997 team, which won the PSAC Championship as the number one seed in the PSAC West.

With the win, the Fighting Scots improve to 30-4 overall and 18-3 in the PSAC. This is the first time since 2010 the team has won 30 games in a season and just the sixth time in program history.

The Edinboro attack was led by junior Victoria Severo with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Sophomore Challen Litwiler totaled 13 digs, while freshman Megan Screptock added ten. The Fighting Scots totaled ten service aces, including two from Litwiler to bring her season total to 58, the ninth highest single-season total in history. Fellow sophomore Sydney Trathen paced the squad with 49 assists in addition to her nine kills.

Senior Marah Maycock led the Fighting Scots defense with 28 digs, increasing her season total to 568, tied for eighth most in single-season history with Stephanie Burner. Litwiler totaled a career-high 23 digs in the match. Litwiler also led the team with a block solo.

After missing the previous four games with an injury, junior Latoya Hutchinson totaled eight kills and led the Scots with two block assists.

The Fighting Scots close out the regular season tomorrow against California (Pa.) in a 3 p.m. match.
