Game Story
The Edinboro women's soccer team makes its first appearance in the PSAC semifinals since 2012, although this marks the sixth straight year Edinboro has played in the PSAC Tournament. The Fighting Scots are making their fourth overall appearance in the PSAC semifinals and are seeking their first appearance in the PSAC Championship Game.

Edinboro is the fourth seed in the PSAC Tournament and has a 13-6-0 overall record. The Fighting Scots advanced into the semifinals on Tuesday, defeating fifth-seed Kutztown, 1-0. This is the Fighting Scots' tenth overall appearance in the PSAC Tournament and their sixth straight appearance. They have also qualified for the NCAA Tournament three times. Edinboro is looking for its first appearance in the PSAC Finals in school history. Edinboro has now won four straight games.

After tasting defeat for the first time in its regular-season finale against East Stroudsburg, Gannon downed eighth-seed Bloomsburg, 3-1. The top-seeded Lady Knights have an 18-1-0 overall record and are ranked fifth in the NSCAA Division II Top 25 and first in the NCAA's Atlantic Region rankings. Gannon had been the top-ranked team in the country for several weeks.

Edinboro is seeking its fourth NCAA playoff berth. The Fighting Scots moved up from sixth to fifth in the latest Atlantic Region rankings, with the top six teams making the NCAA field.

Gannon handed Edinboro a 4-0 defeat at McConnell Family Stadium in the regular season meeting between the two. The Lady Knights hold a 12-6-3 lead in the all-time series. This marks the first time the two teams have met in the postseason.

The winner of the Edinboro-Gannon semifinal match will play the winner of the Slippery Rock-East Stroudsburg semifinal game in the PSAC Championship Game, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 8. SRU is the third seed and advanced with a 1-0 double overtime win over Shippensburg. Seventh-seed East Stroudsburg upset West Chester, the second seed, in the other quarterfinal. The Warriors and Golden Rams battled to a scoreless tie through two overtime, with ESU advancing on penalty kicks.

The PSAC Quarterfinals
Edinboro 1, Kutztown 0
After singing the national anthem prior to the PSAC quarterfinal match, Alex Brown propelled Edinboro into the semifinals with the lone goal at Sox Harrison Stadium.  Just over two weeks ago, Edinboro and Kutztown met on a snowy afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium, with the Fighting Scots prevailing 4-1. This time around the players were bathed in sunshine and 70 degree temperatures. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, with Edinboro outshooting the Golden Bears, 6-2. Edinboro had the best opportunity to score, but Ashley Mutkus' shot hit the crossbar in the 26th minute. Both teams had early chances in the second half, including a sprawling save by Edinboro goalkeeper Sarah Baskey on a long shot by Diana Malanga in the 65th minute. A minute later Kutztown's Alaina Curry just missed to the right side on a long shot that went wide. Edinboro finally put a crooked number on the board at the 66:38 mark. Brown, a junior, blasted a shot past Deanna Messner from 25 yards out into the top left corner to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead. It was Brown's fifth goal of the season. The Edinboro defense did the rest, as they held Kutztown off the board to come away with their sixth shutout of the season. Baskey, a sophomore, improved to 11-4-0 with her fifth shutout, recording four saves. Edinboro held a 14-7 advantage in shots.

Gannon 3, Bloomsburg 1
Gannon used two unanswered gols in the second half to defeat eighth-seed Bloomsburg. Sammi Valloud netted a goal in the 13th minute to help the Golden Knights draw first blood . Bloomsburg's Chrissy Hollan knotted the match at 1-1 in the 43rd minute. Gannon's Mani Brueckner broke the tie with a goal in the 62nd minute, then Kaitlyn Kissell added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute to advance the Golden Knights to the semifinals.

Edinboro vs. the Field
Gannon (#1 Seed)
Friday marks the first time that the Golden Knights and the Fighting Scots will meet in the playoffs. Gannon leads the all-time series over Edinboro, 12-6-3. The Golden Knights used a strong wind at their backs to score four first-half goals to defeat the Fighting Scots earlier this season, 4-0. Mani Brueckner scored the first two goals for the Golden Knights, with the first one coming on a penalty kick. Olivia Augustyniak nailed a kick from 50 yards out that sailed into the net to put Gannon up, 3-0. Michelle Genetin capped the scoring with a goal at the 42:05 mark.

Slippery Rock (#3 Seed)
Slippery Rock has proven to be Edinboro's biggest nemesis. The Rock holds an 18-3-7 all-time series advantage, including a 1-0 win earlier this year. The Fighting Scots have not beaten Slippery Rock since 2009, going 0-4-2 during that period. The Rock traveled to Sox Harrison Stadium on October 14. The match was scoreless until the 57th minute, when Tess Keeley scored the lone goal of the match for Slippery Rock.  The Boro has played SRU three times in the playoffs, twice in the PSAC Tournament and once in the NCAA Tournament. Slippery Rock has won all three matches. Their most recent encounter was in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2012, with The Rock defeated Edinboro in penalty kicks, 4-3, after playing to a 1-1  tie.

East Stroudsburg (#7 Seed)
The Fighting Scots are 9-7-1 all-time against the Warriors and have won eight of the last ten matches, including a 2-1 victory back on October 24. Alex Brown gave the Scots the early lead in the 13th minute with a goal off an assist from Halle Hammer. Shea Neal netted the Warriors' equalizer in the 50th minute from 20 yards out. Jansen Hartmann provided the game-winner with a goal in the 77th minute. The two teams have not met in the postseason.
