EDINBORO, Pa. (March 27, 2015) – Large snowflakes fell throughout the match, with a game-time temperature of 25 degrees that made it feel like 14 degrees. Edinboro's attack was red hot at Sox Harrison Stadium, however. The result was a 17-5 victory in a PSAC women's lacrosse match on Friday afternoon. The chilly win helped the Fighting Scots continue their best start in school history as they improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in PSAC action. Kutztown fell to 1-5 and 0-3, respectively.
Rebecca MartinEdinboro jumped out to an 8-0 lead less than 17 minutes into the match, and Kutztown would never pull closer the six goals the rest of the way. The Fighting Scots scored just 30 seconds into the match courtesy of

Just over two minutes later
Alexa Healy scored on a pass from
Rebecca Martin for a 2-0 lead.
Cydney Hrycko scored the first of her two goals at 25:56 for a 3-0 advantage.
The lead would grow to 5-0 as Healy scored her second and third goals eighty seconds apart. The latter came with 18:03 left in the first half.
Martin's goal at the 13:44 mark gave Edinboro a 6-0 lead and started a string of three goals in a span of 32 seconds.
Emily Peters followed with goals at 13:28 and 13:12 to give the Fighting Scots an 8-0 advantage.
Kutztown finally got on the board with 11:16 to go, and another Golden Bears' goal made it 8-2 with 10:26 to play.
The Fighting Scots responded with three goals to end the half, two of those by Peters, to lead 11-2 at intermission. Edinboro would take on three more goals to start the second half, the first by Peters, to go ahead 14-2 less than five minutes into the period. Kutztown never pulled closer than 11 goals the rest of the way.
Peters finished the snowy afternoon with seven goals, one shy of the school record for goals in a game. Healy added three goals and Hrycko and
Kasey Thur two apiece.
Paige SkinnerMartin had a goal and six assists. The junior now has 34 assists on the season, two shy of the record she set a year ago. She already holds the school record for career assists, boosting that total to 80.
Edinboro ended the day with a 33-26 advantage in shots. Freshman
Paige Skinner was outstanding in goal, recording 12 saves while giving up just four goals. She played just over 50 minutes before giving way to
Amanda Zbinovec.
Edinboro has a quick turnaround, hosting Millersville in another PSAC contest on Saturday afternoon. That gets underway at 2 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
