EDINBORO, Pa. (September 24, 2015) – Fresh off a double-overtime PSAC win against 24th-ranked California (Pa.) on Wednesday, the Edinboro University women's soccer team turns its attention to a PSAC home match against Lock Haven on Saturday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
The Fighting Scots are currently fourth in the PSAC with a 5-2-0 overall record and a 4-1-0 PSAC record. The Bald Eagles are 16th with a 1-5-0 overall and PSAC record. Edinboro is ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region in the latest NSCAA poll.
Edinboro and Cal were locked in a scoreless duel through regulation and one overtime period before senior forward
Jansen Hartmann came through with a goal in the 104th minute to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 victory.
Hartmann is the Fighting Scots' leading scorer with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. She has moved into ninth place in career scoring with 58 points, along with ranking eighth in career goals (21) and tied for fourth in career assists (16).
Ashley Mutkus, a sophomore forward, is second in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Sophomores
Sarah Baskey and
Sierra Davis have shared time in goal, with Baskey picking up her second career shutout against Cal. The duo has combined to allow nine goals with three shutouts.
Since defeating Mercyhurst, 2-1, on September 5, Lock Haven has dropped its last four matches. The Bald Eagles lost to Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday, 4-1.
Jordan Schoff leads the Bald Eagles in scoring with six points on three goals. Haylea Myers is second with two points on one goal. Goalie Morgan Euston has allowed 14 goals with 23 saves.
The Fighting Scots defeated the Bald Eagles last year, 4-1. Hartmann scored two goals while
Ashley DeVito and
Becca Costello each had goals for Edinboro.
After Saturday's match, the Fighting Scots take on PSAC foe Pittsburgh-Johnstown in a home match on Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
