EDINBORO, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2015) – Following a scoreless first half, Lock Haven scored a pair of goals in less than three minutes and held on for a 2-1 win over Edinboro in a PSAC women's soccer match on Saturday evening. The loss drops Edinboro to 5-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in PSAC action. Lock Haven improved to 2-5-0 overall and in league play.
Edinboro dominated statistically, outshooting the Bald Eagles, 17-5, including 10-2 in the second half. Unfortunately, both shots got past Edinboro goalkeeper
Sierra Davis. Both came on corner kicks.
Lock Haven's Joanna Swartz opened the scoring at the 53:37 mark with her first goal, scoring off a rebound in front of the net on a corner kick. At 56:28, Jordan Shoff notched her fourth goal off a mishandle by Davis following a corner kick.
Less than six minutes later the Fighting Scots cut the deficit to 2-1 at 62:09. The Bald Eagles failed to clear the ball, and freshman
Halle Hammer capitalized, scoring her third goal of the season past goalkeeper Erin McGrenaghan.
The Fighting Scots would get off seven more shots the rest of the way but were unable to find the back of the net.
Davis finished with one save while playing the first 60 minutes.
Sarah Baskey played the final 30 minutes in goal. McGrenaghan had 5 saves for Lock Haven.
Edinboro will play its second straight home on Tuesday, September 29, hosting Pitt-Johnstown. That match gets underway at 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
