CLARION, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2015) – The Edinboro women's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a 1-0 victory at Clarion on Thursday evening. It also marked the first PSAC game of the season for both teams.
The victory kept Edinboro's perfect record all-time intact against the Golden Eagles. The Fighting Scots are now 17-0-3 all-time against Clarion.
Edinboro scored the lone goal of the match at the 33:53 mark as senior
Jansen Hartmann took a pass from
Lindsay Boss and beat Clarion goalkeeper Krista Mosi. It marked Hartmann's 15th career goal, moving her into a tie for 11th place in career goals.
The Fighting Scots would dominate play but that was the lone ball to get past Mosi. She would make 13 saves as Edinboro held a 23-6 advantage in shots.
Sierra Davis, a redshirt sophomore playing in her first match at Edinboro after transferring from Cleveland State, picked up the shutout in goal. She made one save.
The Fighting Scots are right back in action on Saturday, facing a strong opponent in Notre Dame(OH). The Falcons won the Mountain East Conference championship a year ago and played in the NCAA playoffs. Edinboro ended the regular season with a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. Saturday's match gets underway at 1 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
