EDINBORO, Pa. (October 15, 2016) – Edinboro University women's volleyball celebrated Saturday their annual Dig for the Cure day by defeating Indiana (Pa.), 3-0, on their way to their 16th consecutive win, which ties the school record. The Fighting Scots improved to 16-4 and 9-0 in the PSAC Northwest, while the Crimson Hawks dropped to 14-6 overall with a 5-4 mark in the PSAC Southwest.
Edinboro's Dig for the Cure day was to help raise awareness for survivors and those currently battling cancer. The Fighting Scots dedicated today's contest for former Fighting Scot Jenna Benkelman, who is currently battling breast cancer. They honored both Benkelman and her mother Linda prior to the match and wore pink uniforms to honor the occasion.

The Fighting Scots jumped out to an early lead on the Crimson Hawks in the first set as they posted a 25-17 win. The second set was more closely contested, with Indiana (Pa.) holding a brief lead near the end of the set. Edinboro rallied to win the set, 26-24. The Fighting Scots put an end to their day by posting a 25-19 win in set three to complete the sweep of the Crimson Hawks.
Challen Litwiler led Edinboro and was tied for the match lead with IUP's Natalie Cignetti with a dozen kills, while leading the match with 15 digs.
Latoya Hutchinson finished second on the team with eight kills, while
Sydney Trathen posted a team-high 29 assists.
Megan Screptock and
Jordan Van Oss each had ten digs and a pair of service aces, while
Victoria Severo had six kills with a match-high three block assists.
