PEPPER PIKE, Ohio. (October 18, 2016) – The Edinboro University volleyball team recorded its 17
th-consecutive victory on Tuesday night, breaking a school record held by the 2010 squad with 16-straight. The Fighting Scots defeated Ursuline in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-16 to improve to 17-4 overall and concludes their non-conference schedule at 8-4 while Ursuline dropped to 14-9 overall.
A trio of Fighting Scots finished the contest with double-digit kills, led by
Victoria Severo with a game-high 14 kills on 31 attempts for a .419 hitting percentage.
Latoya Hutchinson and
Challen Litwiler added 11 and kills, respectively. Litwiler also finished with 11 digs for her seventh consecutive double-double.
Sydney Trathen paced the Edinboro offense with a game-high 33 assists. She also finished second on the team with 15 digs. Freshman
Jordan Van Oss led the Fighting Scots defensively with 17 digs.
Taylor Palowski also contributed 10 digs.
Severo controlled the front of the net, recording a game-high three block solos. Hutchinson and Trathen combined for a block assist each.
Victoria Henderson led Ursuline with nine kills while Kassidy Stilwell totaled a team-high 16 digs.
The Fighting Scots return to conference play this weekend, taking on a pair of crosstown rivals. Edinboro travels to Gannon on Friday night, before making the short journey back to Erie on Saturday afternoon to take on Mercyhurst.
