Fighting Scots Sweep Cheyney to Snap Two-Game Losing Skid

CHEYNEY, Pa. (October 28, 2016) – After suffering just their first two conference losses of the season last weekend, the Edinboro University volleyball team resumed their winning ways on Friday night, sweeping Cheyney by set scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-17 to improve to 18-6 overall and 10-2 in the PSAC. Cheyney is still searching for their first conference victory, sitting at 0-12 in conference play and 3-18 overall.
 
14 different Fighting Scots saw action in Friday night's victory, led by junior Challen Litwiler with a team-high 11 kills on 15 attempts for a career-high .600 hitting percentage. Litwiler also led the Scots defensively with nine digs. A pair of freshmen made an impact as well as Raichelle Erman and Amanda Lessman ranked second and third on the squad with seven and six kills, respectively. Junior Sydney Trathen dished out a game-high 31 assists and totaled three block assists on the defensive end.
 
The Fighting Scots totaled a season-high 13 service aces, paced by Litwiler with five. Senior Eiley Durham totaled three service aces, one shy of tying her career-high. Erman added two of her own, while three Fighting Scots each totaled one.
 
The Edinboro defense held Cheyney to a .031 hitting percentage, the lowest percentage against the Fighting Scots all season.
 
Edinboro is right back in action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to PSAC Southeast leading West Chester for a 2 p.m. match. After Saturday's match, the Fighting Scots return home for a five-game homestand to conclude the regular season.
