Katie Fischer Drops in 29 Points as Fighting Scots Open Home Play With 90-59 Win Over Daemen

EDINBORO, Pa. – Katie Fischer scored 29 points to lead four players in double figures as the Edinboro women's basketball team coasted to a 90-59 win over Daemen in the home opener for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro is now 1-2, while Daemen fell to 2-1.

Fischer scored 24 of her 29 points in the first half as Edinboro left little doubt to the outcome, jumping out to a 54-33 lead. She would end the night making 11-of-14 shots, including a career-high 7-of-10 3-pointers. She played just 27 minutes. A year ago, the senior guard posted her career high with 31 points in an overtime win at Daemen.

She had plenty of help from backcourt mates Michaela Barnes, Michelle Jahn, and Jontay Walton. Barnes, a freshman, finished the night with 14 points and a team-high four assists. Jahn added 12 points on the strength of a 4-for-9 performance from beyond the 3-point arc. Walton, a redshirt sophomore, came off the bench to finish with 10 points, making 8-of-8 free throws, and sneaking inside for five rebounds.
