EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games while handing visiting East Stroudsburg their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots handed the Warriors a 77-64 defeat to improve to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in PSAC action. East Stroudsburg, ranked 23
rd in the latest D2SIDA Top 25, fell to 5-1 and 2-1, respectively.
Edinboro scored the final five points of the half on a 3-pointer by
Katie Fischer and a layup by
Ciara Rosten for a 37-34 lead at intermission. ESU would never lead again as the Fighting Scots started the third quarter on a 7-2 run to build the lead to 44-36 with 7:40 left in the quarter.
East Stroudsburg would pull to within four on three occasions, but they were never able to shut down Fischer and
Michelle Jahn. Leading 49-45 with 3:34 remaining in the period, Jahn scored on a layup and a jumper, and Fischer's layup gave the Scots a 55-45 lead with 1:38 left.

Leading 57-48 after three quarters, the Fighting Scots never allowed ESU to pull closer than eight at 58-50 early in the fourth quarter. Edinboro would hold a Warriors team that came in averaging 76.2 ppg. to just 30 points over the final half. Still leading by eight at 65-57 with 5:43 to play, Fischer's jumper boosted the lead to double digits and the Warriors never pulled closer.
The trio of Fischer, Jahn, and Rosten combined for 63 of Edinboro's 77 points. Fischer ended the game with 23 points on a variety of pull-up jumpers and drives. She made 9-of-16 field goals, including 3-of-5 3-pointers, and added six rebounds.
Jahn had 22 points, starting the day off making 7-of-her first 8 shots on drives past defenders, before stepping outside to hit a pair of three's. She ended the day making 9-of-14 shots, along with pulling down five rebounds and recorded two steals. Rosten played a strong game in the post, as the 6'2" junior scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
East Stroudsburg had four players in double figures, led by Imani Brown's 15 points. Allison Howard had 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Rebecca Rutkowski added 12 points. Noelle Powell finished with 11 points.
Edinboro shot 46.9 percent for the game (30-of-64), including 5-of-10 on 3-pointers, and made 12-of-23 free throws. ESU shot 40.9 percent from the floor (27-of-66), making 5-of-14 three's, and was 5-for-9 at the line. Edinboro held a 44-38 lead in rebounding. ESU committed 15 turnovers and the Fighting Scots 11.
Edinboro is right back in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting West Chester at 1 p.m.
