SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 16, 2016) – The Edinboro University volleyball team kept rolling on Friday night, winning its sixth consecutive outing with a 3-0 victory at Le Moyne. The Fighting Scots improved to 6-4 overall on the season after starting the year 0-4. Le Moyne suffered just their third loss of the year, falling to 7-3 overall.
The Fighting Scots took care of business handily in the first two sets of the night, winning by scores of 25-18 and 25-17. Le Moyne put the pressure on in the third set, trailing by just two at 22-20, but Edinboro was able to close them out for the victory, scoring three of the next four points.
The senior duo of
Latoya Hutchinson and
Victoria Severo each finished with double-digit kills. Hutchinson finished with a team-high 13 kills, while Severo added 12. Junior
Challen Litwiler contributed eight kills with a .438 hitting percentage. Fellow junior
Sydney Trathen paced the Edinboro attack with 33 assists. Trathen also finished with a squad-best .667 hitting percentage, totaling six kills.
Sophomore
Megan Screptock led Edinboro with a season-high 21 digs. Litwiler finished with 15 digs and
Hannah Cantrill totaled 10. Freshman
Molly Owens finished with a team-high three block assists.
The Fighting Scots are right back in action tomorrow afternoon, taking on Saint Rose at 1 p.m. Following that, Edinboro will return to McComb Fieldhouse on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 to begin PSAC play. Edinboro will host Lock Haven on Friday night and Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday.
