EDINBORO, Pa. (September 23, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's volleyball team featured four players with a hitting percentage over .400 as the Fighting Scots downed visiting Lock Haven, 3-0, for their eighth consecutive victory. With the win, Edinboro improves to 8-4 overall and notches its first PSAC win of the year to open conference play 1-0 in the PSAC Northwest. Lock Haven drops to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC Central.

Led by the senior duo of 
Latoya Hutchinson and 
Victoria Severo, the Fighting Scots swept the Bald Eagles in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-20. Hutchinson and Severo each finished with a team-high 14 kills and both sported hitting percentages upwards of .700 percent. Severo finished with a career-high .778 percent, while Hutchinson was at .765 percent. Both seniors also contributed on the defensive end as Hutchinson finished with two block assists and Severo had a block solo.
 
Sophomore 
Megan Screptock added eight kills, while totaling a .471 hitting percentage. Junior 
Sydney Trathen added three kills on a .400 percentage. Trathen also paced the Fighting Scots offense with a game-high 33 assists. In addition, she added a service ace and nine digs.
 
Freshman 
Molly Owens and junior 
Challen Litwiler totaled five digs each. Litwiler led the Fighting Scots with 11 digs, while Owens was in on two block assists.
 
Sarah Gomish led the Bald Eagles with seven kills, while Chloe Williams and Gabrielle Stick added six and five, respectively. Lock Haven struggled on the offensive end, finishing with just a .114 hitting percentage.
 
Edinboro concludes a two-game homestand tomorrow afternoon, hosting Pitt-Johnstown in a PSAC contest scheduled for 4 p.m. Tomorrow's contest features a battle of last year's PSAC Head Coaches of the Year as Edinboro's 
Missy Soboleski took home the West crown, while Joanna Haupt took home the award in the East for UPJ.
