Make it 14 in a Row for Fighting Scots with 83-54 Win over Gannon

EDINBORO, Pa. – After a slow start, the Edinboro women's basketball team pulled away for its 14th straight win on Wednesday night, handing local rival Gannon an 83-54 defeat in a PSAC West contest. The victory boosted the Fighting Scots to 14-2 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC West, as Edinboro remained in a first place tie with Indiana(Pa.). Gannon fell to 4-12 overall and 4-6 in PSAC play.

Edinboro has now won 16 straight games at home, in large part due to a big second half. Gannon took a 20-18 lead midway through the second quarter after scoring the first eight points of the quarter, part of an 11-0 run. An old-fashioned 3-point play by Allison Thompson gave the Fighting Scots the lead for good at 21-20.  That play started a string of seven straight points for a 25-20 advantage with 2:53 left to play in the half. The Fighting Scots would end the half with a 32-25 lead.

The third quarter began with Katie Fischer making a pair of free throws following a technical on Gannon at the end of the half. The lead would grow to 42-30 when Michelle Jahn buried a 3-pointer, and Gannon never pulled closer than eight points the rest of the way.
