Hamker Scores Late in Regulation as Fighting Scots Tie Clarion, 1-1

CLARION, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team remained undefeated all-time against Clarion, but it took a goal with just over five minutes remaining to send the match into overtime. The two teams would battle for twenty more minutes without a score, tying 1-1 in two overtimes.

The Fighting Scots are now 4-4-3 overall and 3-4-3 in PSAC action. A much-improved Clarion team is 6-4-3 and 5-3-3 respectively. Edinboro is 19-0-4 all-time vs. the Golden Eagles.

Clarion opened the scoring on a goal by McKenzie Sheesley at 14:58. It was her third goal of the season. Edinboro would hold an 8-5 advantage in shots at the half, but still trailed 1-0.

The Fighting Scots kept the pressure on Clarion goalkeeper Krista Mosi throughout the second half, but she made several excellent saves. The Fighting Scots would finally break through at the 84:56 mark. With the Scots fighting to gain control in front of the net, Morgan Hamker gathered the ball in on the left side and fired it into the left corner of the net from ten yards out. It was the sophomore's first goal in 2017 and second of the season. Ellie Frania and Ashley Mutkus were credited with assists on the goal.
