Rachel Olson Scores Three Goals in 11-5 Loss at Gannon

ERIE, Pa. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped its final road game of the 2017 season, falling at Gannon by an 11-5 score. The loss leaves the Fighting Scots at 2-14 overall and 0-11 in the PSAC heading into their final home of the season on Saturday, April 29, hosting 12th-ranked West Chester. The Lady Knights improved to 5-10 and 3-8, respectively.

The Fighting Scots fell behind early and were never able to catch up. Gannon scored just over two minutes into the game, and eventually scored the first six goals of the match to take a 6-0 lead with 12:28 remaining.

Edinboro scored a minute later on the 12th goal of the season for Rachel Olson. It would be one of three the senior would score. The Fighting Scots closed the gap to 6-2 on Olivia Potts' eighth goal, a free position goal, with 6:31 remaining.

However, Gannon scored a pair of goals to end the half for an 8-2 lead at halftime, and added a goal with 20:10 left for a 9-2 lead.

Olson scored her second of the match at 15:29, and Emily Peters scored exactly three minutes later to narrow the gap to 9-4. Peters now has 46 goals on the season, two shy of Shannon Rohrich's record of 48.

Unfortunately, Edinboro would pull no closer, despite Olson's third goal of the game with five minutes remaining.

Gannon held a 20-12 edge in shots, including 13-5 in the decisive first half. Paige Skinner finished with four saves, while Gannon's Charla Tate had three. Skinner now has 163 saves on the season, tying her own school record. Leilani King led the Lady Knights with four goals.
