Edinboro Rallies for Win in Five Games over Saint Rose in Rebich Investments Invitational

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to come back for a win in five games over Saint Rose in their second match of the Rebich Investments Invitational on Friday night. The Fighting Scots prevailed by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 23-25, 25-16, and 15-8 to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Saint Rose is now 1-1.
 
Edinboro appeared to be on their way to a 2-0 lead with a 24-21 lead in game number two. But the Golden Knights rallied with the final five points, then edged Edinboro in game number three, 25-23. The Fighting Scots controlled play the rest of the way with 25-16 and 15-8 wins in the last two games.
 
Challen Litwiler paced the Fighting Scots with 16 kills, adding 15 digs. Freshman Cierah Jackson added 13 kills and had three block assists, while Megan Screptock was also in double figures in kills with 10. Screptock added a team-high 17 digs and had four service aces. Sydney Trathen had 31 assists and 13 digs, while Tessa Sikora totaled four block assists.
 
The second day of competition continues in the Rebich Investments Invitational on Saturday, with Edinboro facing West Virginia Wesleyan (0-2) at 10 a.m. and Bellarmine (2-0) at 3 p.m.
