Edinboro Sweep Lock Haven 3-0 on the Road For First PSAC Win Behind Cantrill, Jackson

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Edinboro volleyball team had a command performance as they picked up their first PSAC win on the season with a 3-0 sweep on the road at Lock Haven. Cierah Jackson and Hannah Cantrill turned double-digit kill feats in a 25-10, 27-25, 25-17 victory. The Fighting Scots improve to 11-2 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC while the Bald Eagles fall to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC.

The win marks the fourth in a row for Edinboro overall Lock Haven and the third straight sweep dating back to 2014.

The first set saw Edinboro jump out to to a quick 6-0 lead with two kills a piece by Jackson and Cantrill. After two points by Lock Haven, Taylor Palowski and Jackson would help extend the lead to 13-2 with two three aces and three kills respectively. The Bald Eagles were not able to get any closer than 10 points on a tough Edinboro defense as a kill by Jackson sealed the first set for Edinboro 25-10. Lock Haven could not score more than two consecutive points during the set.

The second set was a game of runs as Edinboro would use a 5-0 run late in the set to tie it up at 22-22. But a Bald Eagle service error and attack error proved to be the deciding factor in the 27-25 Edinboro set win. Edinboro is now 11-0 on the season after winning the first two sets.

The beginning of the third set was a repeat of the first as the Fighting Scots held a 7-1 lead. After kills by Tessa Sikora and Challen Litwiler, a Lock Haven attack error would give Edinboro the 25-17 set win.

Coach Missy Soboleski's team was lead by the double-digit kill of Jackson and Cantrill with 15 and 12 respectively. Sydney Trathen was key in setting up the the attack with 37 assists. Edinboro's defense was key in holding off Lock Haven. The 16 digs of Litwiler and three blocks of Trathen and Paige Morris proved too much for Lock Haven.

Edinboro returns home next weekend as they host Shippensburg on Friday at 7 p.m. and Millersville on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both contests are PSAC matches.
