Youthful Fighting Scots Fall on Road at West Chester, 2-0

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester scored a pair of goals within a six-minute period to end the first half and start the second, as the young Edinboro women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Golden Rams. The Fighting Scots are now 4-4-2 overall and 3-4-2 in PSAC action, while West Chester improved to 6-2-1 and 6-2-0 in the conference with their fifth win in the last six games.
 
West Chester held a 12-4 advantage in shots in the first half, but Edinboro goalkeeper Sarah Baskey was equal to the challenge until Shanya MacFarlane netted her first goal of the season at 40:07. Baskey turned in a strong effort with five saves in the first half, and ended the contest with eight saves.
 
The Golden Rams added a second goal just 50 seconds into the second half, with Brittaney Reffitt scoring her second goal of the season, assisted by Jenny Bail.
 
Head coach Gary Kagiavas has been starting four freshmen all season long, with five more coming off the bench on Saturday. West Chester held an 18-7 advantage in shots, with WCU goalkeeper McKenna Mullin recording 2 saves.
 
Edinboro plays the second of three consecutive road contests on Wednesday, October 4 at Clarion.
