Balanced Effort Gives Edinboro 3-0 Sweep Over Visiting Millersville in PSAC Action

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team made quick work of visiting Millersville with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 win. With the win, Coach Missy Soboleski's team improved to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC.

The Fighting Scots have now won the past four meetings with Millersville and 18 of the past 19 dating back to 1996.

Millersville took an early 4-1 lead before Edinboro would even the first set at 9-9. A kill by Challen Litwiler would give Edinboro the lead that they would not give up. After the Fighting Scots took a 14-11 lead, the visitors would take a time out, however id did not work in their favor as they were forced to call their last time of the set with Edinboro leading 18-13. Another kill by Litwiler would give Edinboro the first set, 25-16.

The Marauders would take a 6-3 lead early, but Edinboro would use an 11-4 run to take a 17-10 lead midway through the second set. Jill Glover would close out the set with a kill and the assist from Sydney Trathen, 25-16.

The Fighting Scots took a quick 4-0 lead in the third set and never looked back. The closest Millersville was able to get was 12-11 before Edinboro would force the Marauders to take both timeouts with the Fighting Scots leading 20-16. A service ace by Jordan Van Oss and a kill by Glover would give Edinboro the win.

Soboleski's team saw six different players with at least five kills, led by Litwiler's 11. In addition to her kills, the senior added her 11th double-double with 20 digs. Fellow seniors Glover and Trathen added six and five kills, respectively. Trathen, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native, also tallied 36 assists. Junior Tessa Sikora and freshmen Cierah Jackson hit above .300 for the match with seven and six kills, correspondingly. Paige Morris had a season-high six kills to go along with her five block assists.

Edinboro returns to action on Friday, October 6, against Seton Hill starting at 7:00 p.m.
