Trathen Named MVP, Jackson Earns Spot on All-Tournament Team as Edinboro Goes Undefeated at Hawks Invitational

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 1 | Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 2 MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sydney Trathen was selected the Most Valuable Player and Cierah Jackson also earned All-Tournament honors as the Edinboro volleyball team swept its four matches at the Hawks Invitational. Edinboro defeated Nyack in four games by scores of 28-26, 25-20, 23-25, and 25-14 in its first match on Saturday, then came back for a three-game triumph over Assumption, winning 25-14, 25-18, 25-12.

Oddly enough, Jackson, a freshman outside hitter, made the all-tournament team despite sitting out Saturday's matches. The Fighting Scots were also without another starter, junior Megan Screptock. Edinboro improved to 7-1 with the two victories.

Edinboro will return to New England next weekend, as well, playing in the third tournament in three weeks. The Fighting Scots play in the American International Tournament.

EDINBORO 4, NYACK 1
After three tight games, Edinboro dominated the fourth game, winning 25-14. Challen Litwiler led four players in double figures in kills with 14, adding 15 digs and five service aces. Trathen had 11 kills, 32 assists, and 16 digs. Jill Glover and Hannah Cantrill contributed 10 kills apiece. Morgyn Sharp had four block assists. Nyack fell to 0-8 with the loss.

EDINBORO 3, ASSUMPTION 0
In their fourth game of the weekend, the Fighting Scots made quick work of Assumption, with the match lasting just over an hour. The Greyhounds fell to 1-7. Glover had a team-high 10 kills, while Trathen had 31 assists and nine digs. Cantrill chipped in with nine kills.
