The Short Story: The Edinboro volleyball won the first set against the 23^rd-ranked Lady Knights before Gannon won three straight sets to pick up the 3-1 PSAC victory on Friday night. The Fighting Scots won the first set, 25-19, but Gannon, an NCAA Elite Eight team a year ago which reached the Final Four, improved to 20-1 with wins of 25-16, 25-8, 25-10 in the final three sets. Gannon came in as the preseason favorite in the PSAC Northwest Division, with Edinboro picked second.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Edinboro won the first set with Hannah Cantrill leading the offense with four kills. The Fighting Scots led by a slim 15-13 margin before running off six of the next seven points to take a commanding 21-14 lead.
The Lady Knights came back in the second through fourth sets. In the second set, Gannon led 4-2 and took control by scoring five of the next six points and went on to win 25-16
The third set saw Edinboro take an early 2-1 lead but Gannon scored 11 of the next 12 points and went on to prevail 25-8.
Edinboro's attack would struggle in set four, with a .000 hitting percentage as Gannon won 25-10..

BY THE NUMBERS

Four different Fighting Scots had at least four kills against Gannon. Hannah Cantrill led the Fighting Scots with six kills, with Paige Morris contributing five. Sally Sterkel and Cierah Jackson had four each.
Alicia Eldredge dished out assists on 23 of Edinboro's 29 kills on the night.
Cantrill, Jackson, Eldredge and Jessica Giannoccaro all recorded service aces against the Lady Knights.
Both Molly Breier and Abigail Horner reached double-figure digs. Breier scooped up 21 attacks while Horner recorded 10 digs.
Edinboro finished with a .067 hitting percentage on the evening, while Gannon came in at .275. The Fighting Scots had one block solo and eight assists, while Gannon's front line had 4 block solos and 15 block assists. Edinboro had four service aces, with Gannon showing 11.
