INDIANA, Pa. – The Edinboro men's swimming team officially took to the pool for the first time in 2018-19, competing in a dual meet at Indiana(Pa.). The Fighting Scots suffered a 114.5-80.5 loss to the Crimson Hawks. IUP is now 1-1 on the season.
Senior Marcus Grosso led the way with two individual first-place finishes and posted PSAC qualifying times in both events. He won the 200-yard freestyle with a qualifying mark at 1:46.54 and 200-yard butterfly with a qualifying time of 1:59.88.
Grosso also competed in the 200-yard medley relay with juniors Jackson Bangert and Nick Bradford, and sophomore Tommy Horan. They won the relay with a time of 1:37.77.
Two other Fighting Scots won individual events on Friday.
Horan posted a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, qualifying at 22.24. Bangert won the 100-yard freestyle and posted a PSAC qualifying time by .01 seconds with a time of 49.82. He also posted a personal-best of 22.82 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Three other Fighting Scots qualified for the PSAC Championships against IUP.
Bradford finished second in the 200-yard IM with a qualifying mark at 2:01.55. Sophomore Michael Kocher also went onto capture a second-place finish, qualifying in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:01.59. Freshman Caleb Dankle recorded PSAC qualifying time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in third place at 10:27.75.
The Fighting Scots will return to action on Friday, November 2, hosting Bloomsburg in the home opener. That meet will get underway at 6 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse.
