THE GAME FACTS
  • Score:  Edinboro 89, Lock Haven 65
  • Records:  Edinboro (6-2, 3-1 PSAC West), Lock Haven (7-3, 3-2 PSAC East)
  • Location:  Edinboro, Pa. – McComb Fieldhouse
  • The Short Story:  Bridgette Shaffer scored a career-high 23 points and posted her second straight double-double, while Michaela Barnes continued her hot play with a game-high 23 points as Edinboro win its third straight game. The Fighting Scots once again played without post players Ciara Rosten and Allison Thompson, and Lock Haven continually tried to take advantage of that. The Bald Eagles held a 36-24 advantage in points in the paint, but they had no answers for Edinboro's strong contingent of guards. Shaffer made 5-of-7 3-pointers as Edinboro went 13-of-28 from beyond the arc. Michelle Jahn and Jontay Walton made three 3-pointers, with Jahn totaling 15 points and Walton 11, along with seven assists. For the second night in a row, the Fighting Scots exploded in the second half. Leading 38-27 after two quarters, Edinboro would put 51 points on the scoreboard over the final 20 minutes after scoring 59 last night vs. Mansfield.
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER  HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Unlike Tuesday night when Edinboro struggled to get going offensively in the first half, the Fighting Scots jumped out to a 23-11 lead after one quarter. Bridgette Schaffer led the way with eight points, making all three of her shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. Tied at 7-7, Edinboro closed the period on a 16-4 run.
  • Lock Haven would close the deficit to under 10 points just once in the second quarter at 23-15, but the period would end with Edinboro leading 38-27. The Bald Eagles committed 15 turnovers in the first half. Both teams combined for just four free throws in the first half, all by Edinboro. That would change in the second half.
  • Baskets by Ahnera Parker and Tiana Garvin to open the third quarter pulled Lock Haven to within eight points at 38-31. The Fighting Scots still led by just eight points at 50-42 with 4:31 left in the quarter, but Edinboro ran off seven straight points late in the quarter and would hold a 61-45 advantage after three quarters. Shaffer opened the run with a three, followed by a pair of Michaela Barnes' layups.
  • Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer for Lock Haven, but Edinboro answered with a 21-5 burst. The run was capped by a pair of 3-pointers by Jontay Walton. Edinboro's lead would grow to as many as 31 points in the final period.
