Fighting Scots Improve to 2-1 with 17-6 Win at Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Sophie DePalma and Lindsey Brinkel scored four goals apiece to lead the Edinboro women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over Holy Family on Sunday afternoon. The contest was played at LaSalle University. The Fighting Scots are now 2-1 while Holy Family is 0-4.
 
A total of eight Fighting Scots scored goals, with DePalma contributing four goals and three assists and Brinkel four goals and an assist. Anna Leva added three goals and three assists, and Erin Gordon scored twice. Stephanie Chido and Hannah Fitzgerald had a goal and an assist each, with Kandyce Graham and Maddie Mulcahy scoring a goal.  Olivia Thomas and Sidney Dobbins were credited with an assist each.
 
Rose Bachmayer accounted for four of Holy Family's six goals.
 
Edinboro jumped out to a 5-0 lead just under 11 minutes into the match. Gordon opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first two-and-a-half minutes. Leva made it 3-0 at the 25:43 mark, and DePalma accounted for the next two goals.
 
The Fighting Scots led 10-4 at the half, then opened the second half with the first four goals to eliminate any comeback hopes by the Tigers. Brinkel scored the first two goals, followed by goals by Graham and Chido. Edinboro led 14-4 with just over 15 minutes to play.
 
Freshmen Candace McDole and Kaitlyn Binotto split time in goal. McDole played the first half, allowing four goals and recording seven saves. Binotto saw her first career action and allowed two goals with nine saves.
 
Edinboro held a 35-25 advantage in shots. Holy Family committed 27 turnovers and Edinboro 17.
 
Edinboro returns to action on Tuesday, March 13 playing at Georgian Court.
