McDole Sets School Record For Saves In Win Over Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- Candace McDole set a new school record for saves in the Edinboro women's lacrosse team's win over Georgian Court on Tuesday afternoon. Edinboro (3-1) surpasses its win total from last year while the Lions dropped to 2-5. 

Anna Leva scored seven goals and an assist. She now has 20 goals and 10 assists on the season. Sophie DePalma and Hannah Fitzgerald added four and three goals, respectively. Sidney Dobbins led Edinboro in draw controls with six with Leva adding five. Lindsey Brinkel had two assists in the contest with Leva and Mary Uplinger each contributing one. 

Samantha Fernandez accounted for five of Georgian Court's 11 goals. 

Less than 10 minutes into the game and the Lions held a 4-2 lead over Edinboro thanks to back to back goals. The Fighting Scots would cut the lead to one before Georgian Court would score four goals in the final 6:09 of the first half to take an 9-5 lead
into the break. 

The Fighting Scot defense came up strong in the second half as the offense would go on two five-goal runs. Fitzgerald got things started with a goal less than five minutes into the second half, with an assist from Leva. That started a string of five goals in less than five minutes for Edinboro. Leva scored two of her seven goals during the span, including a man-up goal with DePalma adding two of her own, both unassisted.

The last Lions goal came with 17:27 left in the game to put Georgian Court up 11-10. The Fighting Scots used their second goal run of the game with DePalma, Fitzgerald, Brinkel, and Leva all scoring in the final minutes of the game. 

McDole's 22 saves gives the freshman 57 on the season while earning her third win. irst two-and-a-half minutes. Leva made it 3-0 at the 25:43 mark, and DePalma accounted for the next two goals.

The Lions held a 46-29 advantage in shots. Edinboro committed 22 turnover and the Lions had 15. 
 
Edinboro returns to action on Saturday, March 17 opening PSAC action against Millersville at Sox Harrison Stadium. First draw is at 1:00 p.m.
