Fighting Scots Lose at No. 20 East Stroudsburg 16-4

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss on Sunday morning, falling 16-4 at 20th-ranked East Stroudsburg. The Fighting Scots are now 3-4 overall and 0-3 in PSAC action. East Stroudsburg improved to 4-1 and 3-0, respectively. The contest was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved back a day due to the winter storm that hit the area earlier in the week.

East Stroudsburg opened the scoring at the 27:42 mark on a free position goal by Chessie Rahmer. The Warriors made it 2-0 39 seconds later on another free position goal, this one by Hana Cicerelle, before Sophie DePalma got Edinboro on the board at 26:08. It was her 19th goal of the season.

The Warriors would score two more goals to make it 4-1 before Sidney Dobbins scored her first goal of the season on a free position shot at 18:11 to cut the lead to 4-2.

ESU responded with four straight goals to build an 8-2 lead, but Edinboro scored two of the next three goals to close to 9-4. Mary Uplinger accounted for the first on a pass from Dobbins for her second goal, and Dobbins followed with a free position goal at 10:36.

The Warriors closed the half with four straight goals to build the lead to 13-4. They held a 28-9 advantage in shots in the first 30 minutes.
The second half featured just three goals, all by East Stroudsburg. There was no scoring in the final 15 minutes of the contest. The Warriors ended with a 47-15 advantage in shots, including 28-9 in the first half.

Candace McDole once again turned in a strong showing in goal. The freshman finished with 20 saves, just two shy of the school record she set earlier this season. Tatyana Petteway played the first half for ESU and recorded five saves, with Michelle Dyck finishing with two saves in the second half.

Dobbins had two goals and an assist to lead the attack. Krista Mitarotonda led East Stroudsburg with five goals, while Emma Rufolo had three. Eight different players scored for the Warriors.

Edinboro returns to action on Wednesday, March 28 with a 4 p.m. match vs. Gannon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
