Fighting Scots Fall to 11th-Ranked West Chester, 17-1

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team held 11th-ranked West Chester at bay early in Saturday's PSAC match, but eventually the Golden Rams found the back of the net. The Fighting Scots would eventually suffer their ninth straight setback, dropping a 17-1 decision to West Chester.

Edinboro is now 3-10 overall and 0-9 in league play while West Chester remained undefeated at 13-0 and improved to 8-0 in the PSAC.

Edinboro held WCU without a goal until 23:10 remained in the first half when Drew McKinney scored the first of her two goals to make it 1-0. Five more minutes would go by before the Golden Rams made it 2-0 on a Tatum Altman goal.

Unfortunately, that began a string of three goals in less than three minutes. West Chester made it 5-0 on Altman's third goal of the contest at 12:33. Edinboro answered with a free position goal at the 9:12 mark by Stephanie Chido to make it 5-1. The last time Edinboro was held to one goal came in a 2012 in a 17-1 loss to Lock Haven.

West Chester closed out the first half with four more goals to make it 9-1 at the half. The first three came courtesy of Maggie Stella. The Golden Rams would add eight more goals in the second half, with two by Tara Morrissey.

West Chester held a 41-6 advantage in shots. Candace McDole added to her season school-record save total with 10 saves. McDole played the first 46:32 before giving way to Kaitlyn Binotto, who finished up and had two saves. Julianne Clemens and Nicole Martins each played a half in goal for the Golden Rams.

Ten different players scored goals for West Chester, with Stella leading the way with four goals. Altman had three goals and two assists, with McKinney and Morrissey adding a pair.

Edinboro returns to action on Tuesday, April 17 hosting West Virginia Wesleyan in a non-conference match that gets underway at 2 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
