Fighting Scots Suffer 16-4 Loss at 21st-Ranked Mercyhurst in Final Road Tilt

ERIE, Pa. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team played its final road contest on Wednesday, though it wasn't a very long bus ride. The Fighting Scots made the short trek to Erie and suffered a 16-4 loss to 21st-ranked Mercyhurst in a PSAC contest.

Edinboro has now lost 11 straight matches while falling to 3-12 overall and 0-11 in PSAC action. Mercyhurst, coached by former Edinboro coach Kevin Cooke, improved to 10-5 overall and 8-3 in league play.

Mercyhurst opened the scoring less than a minute into the match, as Grace Lawson scored at 29:14. Lawson would account for the Lakers' first three goals as she finished with five goals. Mercyhurst grabbed a 4-0 lead before Edinboro's Lindsey Brinkel netted a goal with 9:16 remaining in the first half, her 20th of the season. Sophie DePalma assisted on the goal.

The Lakers would take a 10-2 lead at the half. Maddie Mulcahy scored her fourth goal of the season, with DePalma again assisting, at 5:46.

Mercyhurst's lead would grow to 16-2 in the second half as the Lakers ran off the first six goals of the half. Edinboro would finish the scoring with a pair of goals. Stephanie Chido notched her 16th goal on a free position shot with just over seven minutes to play. Desiree Doucette concluded the scoring with just under two minutes remaining with her second goal.

???????Mercyhurst held a 32-15 advantage in shots, including 20-9 in the first half. In addition to Lawson, Taylor Izzo had two goals and five assists. Kristin Anderson had two goals and a pair of assists.

???????Edinboro wraps up the season on Saturday, April 28 against another ranked team, hosting 22nd-ranked Lock Haven.
