Edinboro Concludes Opening Weekend Splitting With Kentucky State, Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Fighting Scots volleyball team concluded action on Saturday at the USI DoubleTree Invitational. Edinboro (2-2) opened the second day of the tournament with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19) sweep of Kentucky State before falling 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-19 against host Southern Indiana.

For her efforts, sophomore Cierah Jackson was named to the All-Tournament team. She finished with the tournament with 39 kills.  

EDINBORO 3, KENTUCKY STATE 0
Edinboro opened Day 2 of the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Kentucky State. Four different Fighting Scots had at least five kills with senior Hannah Cantrill leading the way with eight. Sophomore Hannah Brentar scored four service aces while as a team, the Fighting Scots totaled nine. Edinboro did not allow a single Thoroughbred ace. Brentar also led the team in digs with eight while serving as the team's libero. Sophomore Jordan Van Oss and freshman Alicia Eldredge split setting duties with 14 and 17 assists, respectively.

SOUTHERN INDIANA 3, EDINBORO 1
The Fighting Scots concluded action at the USI DoubleTree Invitational with a 3-X loss to the host Screaming Eagles. USI took the first set before Edinboro came back in the second with a 25-21 win to even the match up at 1-1. The third set went back and forth before USI pulled away late to take a 2-1 lead with a 25-19 set win. The Screaming Eagles took the fourth set 25-16. Jackson led the Fighting Scots with 17 kills on the evening. Brentar and freshman Alicia Eldredge had double-digit digs with 13 and 10, respectively.

Edinboro returns to the courts next weekend, August 31 – September 1 when they host the 2018 Rebich Investments Invitational. The Fighting Scots welcome in Davis & Elkins, Glenville State, and Lock Haven to campus. Edinboro will start off with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match on Friday, August 31 against Lock Haven.
