EDINBORO, Pa. -- In a matchup of two teams looking to snap three-match losing streaks,.Edinboro took advantage of two early goals from Danielle Chatten for a 2-1 win over California(Pa.) at Sox Harrison Stadium on Wednesday night. Chatten scored in the 11th and 16th minute, both off passes from Rebecca Manns, to give the Fighting Scots a quick advantage. The Vulcans made things interesting with a goal in the 75th minute to close the gap to 2-1. Edinboro is now 2-3-0 overall and 1-3-0 in PSAC action, while Cal is 1-4-0 and 0-4-0, respectively..
HOW THEY SCORED
- Danielle Chatten opened the scoring at the 34:39 mark with her third goal of the season off a feed from Rebecca Manns for a 1-0 Edinboro lead.
- The same combination made it 2-0 with 15:47 gone as Chatten beat Cal goalkeeper Gianna Sinatra. Manns initial shot was saved. She followed with another shot that was blocked and rebounded back to Chatten, whose shot from 25 yards out on the left side went into the upper right corner of the net.
- The Vulcans cut the lead in half on Rebecca Lyxell's first goal of the season at 74:58. She took a short pass in front of net from Maraye Alexander.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Edinboro held a 10-7 advantage in shots, but Cal held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.including 7-2 in the second half.
- Edinboro totaled 4 corner kicks to 2 for Cal.
- Edinboro freshman Anna Voelker had 4 saves as she picked up her second win of the season. Cal's Gianna Sinatra finished with 2 saves.
OH SO CLOSE
- Edinboro had a pair of excellent scoring chances denied. freshman Brittnie Spithaler appeared to score a goal for the Fighting Scots eight minutes into the second half, but she was ruled offsides.
- Marisa Zupen fired a long shot at the goal with just over 12 minutes remaining. Sinatra would get a finger tip on the ball and it then caromed off the crossbar.

- Danielle Chatten, a junior forward, recorded her second career two-goal game. She dad two goals a year ago against Millersville. Chatten now has 14 career goals.
- Rebecca Manns led Edinboro with 6 assists a year ago. Her 2 assists this evening gives her a team-leading 3 on the young season.
